Gerardo LA PORTA, aka Gilaporta.
Self-taught artist, born in 1966 in Eboli, a town in the Salerno area, he has shown his aptitudes in drawing since childhood, ranging from technical to figurative. Without the approval of his parents, who hoped for other interests, he studied all the drawing and painting techniques, preferring oil colors. He falls in love with the great classical artists such as Leonardo, Raffaello, Giotto, Michelangelo, but is then captured by contemporaries such as Picasso, Klee, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Matisse, Mirò Modigliani, Dali', from whom you find personal technique. His canvases are shades of bright colors and wavy lines. Exploring new ones again, he came across that of Sol LeWitt, and Jean Dubuffet, and the label in light of the brush strokes that make it.
Since 1992 he has organized national and international exhibitions and group shows (France, Malta, Ireland, Venezuela, Spain). Co-founder of the TIAL Group, Salerno's artistic group, after a ten-year break during the way the world went by, he resumed a painting reaching a very personal and unique style.
